The 2012 Feast Day Talent Quest

Today at the Talent Quest the seniors who performed showed that they really do have talent! We know you will enjoy these short videos of their performances.

Cheyenne performed a dance from the Pacific Islands.

Brooke, Ella, Kelly, Millie and Reagan dancing.

Bridgette on the keyboard.

This group of seniors had only come together as a group 2 days ago.
They sang together beautifully and their items were enjoyed by all.

Long Jump Skills

Our session with our Athletics coach this week covered Long jumping skills.
We were surprised to learn that to achieve a decent long jump we had to jump high.
It was the elevation on take off that helped our jump.

Bike Track

On Thursday afternoon we got out to enjoy the Bike Track. It's a fun way to exercise and everyone enjoyed taking turns on the bikes.

Peer Tutoring Programme

As part of our reading lessons, we work together in a Peer Tutoring programme to help each other.
In term 1, Ms Nesbit the RTLB, came and taught us how to be either Tutees or Tutors.
Since then we have worked with our buddy, reading and answering questions that help our comprehension. Both Tutees and Tutors have benefitted from the programme and it has been fun reading together.

As part of our EOTC visit to Wellington in week 6, we will be visiting the Carter Observatory.
In preparation for this visit, we are researching and adding to our knowledge of the Solar System.

Learning New Skills at High Jumping

Today we had a session with Paul Webb, our instructor from HB Athletics. We focussed on the correct skills needed for high jumping. By the time we'd practised making a 'Z' with our leg, then making a pop (like pop-corn) as we became airborne we managed to use these skills to jump.

We had lots of fun using pencils to create these works of art. No need to name these!

Our Wakely Shield Rugby Players

Today, 3 of our senior students played their third game in the Wakely Shield.
It was a tough game between the Hastings West team and a Napier team.

Misinale, David and Kristian played really well. Good luck for the rest of the competition.
